Congress is in the midst of debate over a bill that would set a national standard for how many live organisms can be permitted in ballast water. Returning veterans are having a difficult time find civilian jobs upon ending their time of service, leading to a spiral of joblessness and depression. With an influx of troops returning from Iraq occurring by year's end, this problem will only worsen.

Fond du Lac Reservation and the City of Duluth collaborated 25 years ago to create "Fond-Du-Luth" casino. They concept was revolutionary at the time and has spurred important development in both Duluth and Fond du Lac Band.
